Helsinki’s market halls bring food shops, cafés and places to eat together under one roof. They can be a practical stop when you want to browse before deciding what to try.

Choose one hall

MyHelsinki’s guide covers the Old Market Hall, Hakaniemi and Hietalahti. Start with the hall that fits the rest of your route instead of planning a rushed tour of all three.

Check the vendor as well as the building

A hall’s opening hours do not necessarily describe every café or restaurant inside. Check the business you want to visit, its current menu and any reservation arrangements.

Compare before ordering

Walk around, read the displayed prices and ask what is included in a portion. Tell staff about any dietary requirements. This guide does not claim a particular venue is the cheapest or that every stall sells traditional Finnish food.
