Helsinki

A self-guided walk is a flexible way to explore central Helsinki. Senate Square, the Cathedral area, Market Square and Esplanade are possible stops, depending on your route and available time.

Make a manageable loop

Choose a starting point near your accommodation or public transport. Mark a few stops on a map and leave time to pause, rather than trying to see every landmark in one morning.

Check access and conditions

Walking public streets does not require a tour ticket, but indoor attractions, guided services and special events may have charges or opening restrictions. Check those separately. In winter, allow for slippery pavements, darkness and cold.

Plan your finish

Bring suitable shoes, clothing and a charged phone. Identify a place to rest and check how to return before setting off.

Visitor information: MyHelsinki’s official guide. This is a suggested self-guided walk, not an advertised guided-tour service.
