Plan public transport in Finland around the city or region you are visiting. Local tickets and long-distance journeys use different operators and ticket systems.

Check the whole journey

In the Helsinki region, use HSL’s journey planner to check your route and all the zones you travel through. Your ticket must cover the required zones and be valid when you start travelling. You can transfer between services during its validity under HSL’s rules.

Buy the correct ticket

Check HSL’s ticket instructions before boarding. Other Finnish cities have their own local transport services. For a journey between cities, compare the train or bus operator’s timetable and fare conditions separately.

Check discount eligibility

Do not assume a student card or age alone qualifies you for every discount. Conditions vary by operator and ticket type. HSL, for example, has residence and study requirements for its student discount.
