Finland led the overall ranking in the World Happiness Report 2024 for the seventh year in succession. The report used Gallup World Poll responses to compare how people assessed the quality of their own lives.

What the ranking meant

The country ranking was based on a three-year average of life evaluations. It was not a claim that every person in Finland felt happy all the time, or that every age group had the same experience.

The 2024 edition also published separate age-group rankings. Lithuania led among people under 30, while Denmark led among those aged 60 and over.
